Good weather has a positive impact on tourism in Wales during the summer

Over half (57%) of tourism businesses received more customers this August compared to last August, with only 17% reporting they had received fewer.

Visit Wales recently published results of a survey, conducted by Beaufort, amongst tourist attractions and accommodation providers in Wales. The main aim of the research is to compare how tourism businesses have performed over the Summer 2013 holiday season, compared to last year. The results showed that better weather (62%), marketing efforts (7%) and improved rooms/facilities (7%) were felt to have contributed to the increase in numbers. However, for those businesses that had received fewer customers this summer, the poor weather (33%) and economic climate (27%) were felt to be the main causes of this. Tourism businesses are optimistic about the future, with 79% confident about the upcoming Autumn season.
