Public Health Wales launches 10 steps to a healthy weight

In Wales, 1 in 4 children are overweight or obese by the time they start school. Children who are overweight or obese at this age are more likely to be overweight as a teenager and adult.

This can cause health problems like asthma, low self-esteem and diabetes. To help children be a healthy weight by the time they reach school, Public Health Wales has produced 10 steps.

As part of its efforts to gain insight into parents’ / carers’ perceptions on this subject, Public Health Wales commissioned Beaufort to carry out a piece of qualitative research which is currently supporting their work in this area. We’re delighted to be asked to share the results with health professionals at a Public Health Wales event today.
